How we connect with you

The ACT Revenue Office uses various methods to communicate with the public about their obligations and entitlements. This can come through assessment notices, emails, letters, SMS (text messaging), and flyers.

Online communications can be susceptible to scams, fraud, and schemes to deceive. Care should be exercised when clicking on hyperlinks within emails or SMS.

If you have any questions about the communications from this Office and whether they are genuine please note the following.

Current Email and SMS activities

We use emails and SMS:

  • For promotional and information purposes
  • To request that you take specific action or provide specific information.

Emails

  • Taxpayers registered with the ACT Revenue Office for electronic notices will receive Rates and Land Tax Notifications by email to their nominated email address.
  • Notices are sent from no-reply@notices.revenue.act.gov.au and will include attachments to Assessment, Re-assessment or Arrears Notices in PDF format.
  • Taxpayers with overdue rates and land tax may receive email reminders sent from debtmanagement@act.gov.au at anytime.
  • These email communications can include links to ACT Revenue Office website for:
    • On-line direct debit form
    • Change of address
    • Registration to receive notices via email.
  • Taxpayers who are assessed for duty on a transfer of property will receive a Notice of Assessment by email to their nominated email address.
  • Notices are sent from actro@act.gov.au and will include an attachment to the Notice of Assessment in PDF format.
  • Lessors, tenants and managing agents will receive email notifications about the Portal (for e.g. activation of account, password reset) and changes to the status of their rental bond (for e.g. bond lodgment, refunds of bonds).
  • All emails are sent from rb@act.gov.au, or no-reply@mail-rentalbonds.revenue.act.gov.au and can include:
    • PDF attachments (for e.g. receipt of payment, refund requests, confirmation of tenant change)
    • Links to the Rental Bonds Portal for:
      • Activate Your Portal Account
      • Reset Portal Password
      • Refund Disbursed
      • Refund Raised
      • Unclaimed Refund
    • Links to login through the ACT Digital Account webpage to enable registration of user before access is granted to the Rental Bonds portal (appears in emails to tenants only).

SMS (Text messages)

  • Taxpayers with overdue tax liabilities may receive SMS reminders. These messages will be sent from ACT Revenue at anytime.
  • Taxpayers with duty payable will receive SMS reminders of upcoming duty payment dates and of duty liabilities that are overdue for payment.

Things we will not do

We will never ask you to reply by SMS or email to provide personal information such as personal bank account number or BSB.

If we are contacting you to request payment, we will direct you to the How to pay options available. We will not ask for payment in any other form.

We will also never include links to external websites.
